Job description
Kongsberg Geospatial is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing Ottawa office. This customer-facing role is being brought on to support a new project which will focus on the establishment and development of a digital air traffic control tower in Canada. This is a large, multi-stakeholder program where exposure to working with external customers and subcontractors will be essential. The successful candidate will a deep knowledge of design principles, Verification and Validation and engineering process. The systems engineer will also work as a liaison between the Software team and external stakeholders to ensure that the project objectives are understood internally while project constraints are agreed externally.
This is a hybrid position working out of our Ottawa, Ontario office.
Duties include:
- Perform requirements analysis and allocation for a multi-stakeholder project.
- Perform requirements elicitation and derivation for subcontracted subsystems.
- Collaborate in the drafting and review of system and subsystem designs for both internal and customer approval.
- Prepare engineering and project plans to aid in the organization of the internal engineering team as well as external subcontractors.
- Generate Systems Engineering and Test artefacts in support of project lifecycle gate reviews.
- Provide oversight of change management process, ensuring that impacts are understood and contractual obligations are maintained.
- Develop an integration and test plan and strategy, focusing on building customer confidence in the delivered solution.
- Lead the integration of subcontracted subsystems in the overall solution.
- Draft and execute comprehensive test procedures against requirements that ensure product quality and reliability.
- Support the continuous improvement of the engineering practice of the business, contributing to process enhancements, informed by project successes and lessons learned.
You Have
- 5-7 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Integration, Test and Verification.
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in delivering large engineering programs, coordinating engineering efforts across multiple project teams.
- Experience in engineering lifecycle management.
- Experience in waterfall and agile projects.
- Experience in the technical oversight of subcontractors.
- Experience in management of large, multi-stakeholder requirement sets.
- Experience with requirement management tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Experience integrating software subsystems into larger solutions.
- Experience with hardware-software integration.
- Experience developing test programs for software systems.
- Experience in customer-facing Verification and Validation.
- Experience in end-user deployment of engineering solutions.
- Canadian security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take responsibility for making things happen.
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to coordinate and communicate between disciplines.
- You like to combine theoretical and practical work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
It will be great if you have….
- Exposure to airworthiness and software assurance standards(e.g. ED-109a, ED-153, DO-178C, DO-278A)
- Experience in the design and test of Software systems.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-1521 and ISO/IEC 12207.
- Knowledge of the aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of air traffic control systems.
- Experience with automated test.
